Hi Everyone!

I’m Don Stein! An entrepreneur who over the last decade raised $10.8 million from some of the world’s best VCs like General Catalyst, Betaworks Ventures, Lightspeed Scout Fund, Biz Stone, Braitman Co., and other incredible Angels. I also worked at Meta and provided grants to startups in AR, VR, Computer vision, AI, Entertainment.

One thing I’ve learned about myself over the last decade is my insatiable curiosity. I’m constantly learning; product dev, traveling, fundraising, music production lessons, painting, studying psychology, absorbing interviews, investing in stocks, starting businesses, researching aliens.... whatever it is, I love learning by doing. A lot of times I’ll learn something for 2-weeks intensely, then not return for years. I just love the process of exploring new ideas. Don’s Daily is where I’ll share bite-sized learnings to inspire you. I promise to “learn by doing” if you promise to “learn by reading.”

The Most Valuable Breakthroughs often come from unpredictable combinations of unrelated skills

One of the most common mistakes most people make is to silo their learning when actual breakthroughs often come from a mix of unrelated insights and skills.

As Steve Jobs put it in his 2005 Stanford commencement speech: “If I had never walked in on that single calligraphy course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts.”

He believed in the concept that dots connect backwards, and so do we.
